More Impressive: Stephen Curry 402 Three-Pointers This Season or Kobe's 60 Points in His Final Game?

Before the Splash Brothers – Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson – ushered in a 3-point era to the NBA, the record for 3-pointers in a season was 269, by Ray Allen of Seattle in 2006. Second place was Dennis Scott of Orlando, who made 267 in 1996.

The Splash Brothers eclipsed those numbers in the last few years before Curry really did something otherworldly this season: 402 three-pointers, breaking his own record – last year – by over 100. Curry made 10-of-19 three-pointers in win #73 vs Memphis Wednesday night.

Absurd.

While Curry was on his way to scoring 46 points, a few hours north in Los Angeles, Kobe Bryant was hanging 60 on the Utah Jazz in a memorable performance to end his career. He needed 50 shots to get 60 points.

But let’s give Kobe some credit: Down 94-84 with 3:05 left, the Lakers looked to be cooked, and Kobe was sitting on 45 points. Then, he took over – 15 of his team’s final 17 points and the Lakers closed on a 17-2 run for a memorable ending. Kobe didn’t miss a shot late: 5-of-5 from the field, 4-of-4 from the line.

Given how many stars end their careers stumbling around in the outfield (Willie Mays), playing poorly in the Super Bowl (Peyton Manning) or scoring no points in their final NBA game (Shaq) or single digits (Charles Barkley), Kobe’s performance was amazing.

But Curry’s season? More impressive. He shattered his own record by over 100. His Warriors set the record for most wins in a regular season, with 73.
