The Big Leadoff: Bryce Harper is a NFL or NBA Star Personality Playing MLB

This week our guest on The Big Leadoff MLB Podcast was Chelsea Janes, beat writer covering the Washington Nationals for the Washington Post. Topics included how things are different this year for the Nationals with all the offseason changes after last year’s disappointment, Daniel Murphy, and Bryce Harper.
On Bryce Harper, Janes said, among other things, that Harper is cognizant of his brand and is more in line with NFL and NBA stars, and represents the future of where MLB is going. “He just doesn’t care anymore what people think, and he said to me one time, he can’t, he wouldn’t have gotten here if he can’t shut out all the noise,” Janes added.
After Janes left, we also talked about the Jason Heyward return to St. Louis with the Cubs, did a BCS-style attempt to select playoff participants, and discussed whether it was panic time for either Chris Archer or Matt Harvey, who have both started 0-3.
