Sometimes you have to do what’s best for your team, and that’s what Michael Madden of Ferris State University thought he was doing on the 16th hole during National Collegiate Club Golf Association National Championship qualifying when he decided to hit a shot that landed on an island in a pond at Eagle Eye Golf Club.

Ferris did his best Gary Woodland impression and stripped down to his briefs and swam across the pond to the island his ball landed on, only to discover a bunch of other balls and a goose.

"“When I got to the island, I saw there was a big goose living there,” said Madden. “There were about 20 balls and I saw what looked like my ball behind her, but this goose looked really mean.”"

Madden finished the hole with a triple-bogey seven, and finished his round with an 81 while going commando, because who packs extra underwear in their golf bag?

Madden’s team won the qualifier and advanced to the NCCGAN Championship.
