Golf Course Drones May Soon Replace 'Cart Girls'

Have you ever been out on the golf course and thought, “where is the cart girl? I need a drink!”

Of course you have, at least those of us who play golf regularly have; well now there’s a solution. Autonomous Control Systems Laboratory (ACSL) is going to be testing their new drone that delivers food, drinks, and whatever else you forget from your walk through the pro shop on a golf course in Japan. The drone system uses an Android app to take your order and once you pay, your order is loaded into a box and then onto the drone which then carries it to you on the course.

Of course there’s the obvious issue that a drone or two will be flying around the course all day making a nice buzzing noise and also becoming a target for those who may have used its service a few too many times.

Throw in a self driving cart and you’ve got a pretty relaxing round of golf.
