I went through a variety of mock drafts, including ours, but also those at all major networks/sites, to look at the consensus info from 20 different mocks. I’ll have the full results and my “Wisdom of the Crowds” mock draft later today, but for now, here’s a summary of the picks that are most commonly mocked to one specific team.

Maybe that team is really good at smokescreens, and everyone will be fooled. Or maybe someone has a lock on their draft board. We’ll see.

The first two should be as no surprise, despite the NFL’s hope not to reveal the intentions at the top for drama. 100% of all mocks have QB Jared Goff going first overall, and Carson Wentz going second, after massive trade-ups.

Here are the remaining “most common” picks, where we get to see if everyone was fooled, or on top of a team’s plans.

DT Sheldon Rankins, Pick No. 12, to New Orleans in 14 of 20

Only one–ours–had Rankins going higher than 12. But the vast majority thought this would be the Saints’ pick. We know they need defense, and help on the line.

LB Darron Lee, Pick No. 17, to Atlanta in 12 of 20

Darron Lee had a little more variability–six of the mocks had him being selected before Atlanta picks so he may not be there, but almost every time he was still available, the mock drafters put him with Atlanta.

WR Laquon Treadwell, No. 23 to Minnesota in 12 of 20

The wide receiver run is expected in the early 20’s. Mockers see Treadwell as the most likely favorite of the Vikings. He went before pick 23 in five of the Mocks.

WR Corey Coleman, No. 22, to Houston in 11 of 20

Corey Coleman never was selected earlier than pick 22, yet the majority of selected him to the Texans, even with other receivers with a higher average mock draft position available. That tells me that people think they have a bead on the Texans’ preferences at the position. We’ll see.

DE Leonard Floyd, Pick No. 11 to Chicago in 10 of 20

Pick Number 11 is where the board really opens up, with lots of different players, and the top 8 or 9 almost always off the board. Yet, half of the mock drafters have the Bears going defensive line with Floyd. It’s a pretty good guess that this is the range he goes: 3 others had him to Tampa Bay at #9, and 4 to the Giants at #10.

OT Jack Conklin, Pick No. 15 to Tennessee in 10 of 20

Jack Conklin was off the board by pick number 15 in half of the mock drafts, ranging from pick 7 to pick 11. Every time he wasn’t, he was mock drafted to the Titans with this pick. Of course, there’s a good chance this is wrong because it is highly questionable he makes it to that spot.
