Dana Stubblefield, who played for San Francisco, Washington, and Oakland in his 11-year NFL career as a defensive tackle, has been charged with five felony counts. Last April, Stubblefield allegedly raped a 31-year-old woman, who is described by the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office as “developmentally delayed.” The San Jose Mercury News reports:

"Stubblefield contacted the woman through Sittercity.com to see if she was interested in a job as a nanny, according to a Morgan Hill police report. They set up an interview for the next day at Stubblefield’s Morgan Hill home. The interview lasted about 20 minutes. The woman left. Minutes later she received a text message from Stubblefield saying he wanted to pay her for her time that day. She went back to the house where Stubblefield picked her up, carried her to a room and raped her, and forced her to “orally copulate him,” the report says. "

After the woman reported the alleged crime to the Morgan Hill Police Department, DNA evidence reportedly matched Stubblefield. It goes without saying that these allegations are very harrowing; Stubblefield’s bail is set at $250,000, and he faces significant prison time if he is convicted.
