Wylie High School (Texas) had a 2-run lead with 2 outs in the bottom half of the 7th inning of the district championship on Friday. A batter for McKinney hit into what looked like a game-ending fielder’s choice, but the runner at second was called safe. None of the Wylie players or coaches apparently saw the call and a celebration ensued. The Wylie 3rd base coach appeared to be the only one to notice as she got the attention of two briefly devastated base runners and waved them home for the game-tying and game-winning runs. That’s the kind of situational awareness you want from a third base coach. [Varsity Views]
