Dion Waiters Gets Away With Late Offensive Foul on Manu Ginobili, Thunder Hang On

The end of Thunder-Spurs was crazy. With the Spurs trailing by four with under 20 seconds remaining, LaMarcus Aldridge was fouled shooting a three-pointer by Serge Ibaka. He made all of his free throws, and OKC had a one-point lead.

In a frenetic sequence after a Thunder timeout, Dion Waiters sought to inbound the ball. In the process, he threw an elbow at Manu Ginobili, then proceeded to throw an errant pass to Kevin Durant. The Spurs emerged with the ball, and Patty Mills got a decent look on a three-pointer that would have won the game, but it fell short and OKC barely hung on.

After the game, Chris Webber was apoplectic about the officiating omission. The Spurs did have a shot on their final possession regardless, so it’s hard to pin this all on the officials, but, yeah, that probably should’ve been a foul call on Waiters.

(Ginobili may have stepped on the line here in his zest to disrupt Waiters, which is also not allowed.)
