It used to be that the NBA record for 3-pointers in a game was 23, set by the Rockets three years ago in the regular season.

Then the Cleveland Cavaliers went full pop-a-shot from the arc Tuesday in a 123-98 win over the Atlanta Hawks, making 18 3s in the first half and 25 overall. Both numbers are NBA records.

The Hawks Twitter account experienced several stages of grief throughout.

Cleveland went 25-for-45 (56 percent) from beyond the 3-point arc, but shot just 38 percent inside it. The Hawks went 11-for-27 from outside, got outrebounded and committed 16 turnovers (to Cleveland’s 8).

J.R. Smith led the way with seven 3s. Lebron James and Kyrie Irving both had four.
