Jason Day leads The Players Championship after lighting up the course with a record tying 63 in his first round. The number one ranked player in the world has already won two tournaments this season, the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the WGC-Dell Match Play.

Day hit 15 of 18 greens in regulation and made nine birdies. Although there have been quite a few eagles during the first round, Day didn’t need any. He finished the first round fourth in strokes gained tee to green at 4.793, fifth in strokes gained putting at 2.891, and obviously, first in strokes gained total at 7.7.

Day is clearly in the driver’s seat at the moment, but there are plenty of good players right behind him. If the Aussie can manage to post another low number on Friday he could distance himself from the pack before the course conditions become even tougher.

Here’s a few of the highlights from Day’s opening round.

Opening birdie.

Third straight birdie.

A ridiculous long bunker-shot leads to birdie.

Tee shot on 17 sets up another birdie.

Day’s 8th birdie of Round.

Almost drains a 39-footer.

And yet another spectacular bunker shot that set up another birdie.
