Road Dogg Jesse James Once Threatened to Beat Up Vince McMahon?

Not sure where this interview with former DX’er Road Dogg Jesse James originated from, but it’s been floating around YouTube for a few weeks now, and I just happened across it today. In this snippet, he talks about the time he threatened to fly to Stamford and personally beat up Vince McMahon.

As the story goes, Vince tried to book the wrestler to get shellacked by Rob Van Dam and Sabu when ECW invaded WWF (so, 1997), but RDJJ wanted zero part of putting over workers from a rival organization. Apparently there was then a communication criss-cross about how the finish would go down, the match wound up getting scrapped, Vince took exception to it, and Road Dogg took exception to Vince’s taking exception. Fisticuffs were threatened but did not go down.

Things smoothed over afterwards as most of Road Dogg’s career highlights in WWF/E occurred thereafter (Road Dogg’s theory is that this kerfuffle actually made Vince respect him for standing up for himself). The moral of the story is that, as ever, there could be a book just filled with stories that wrestlers from the 1980’s and 1990’s tell on podcasts.
