Floyd Mayweather sat down for an interview with Showtime on Friday night. Naturally, he was asked about rumors of the fight that he and Conor McGregor have been teasing. As my colleague Stephen Douglas has explained on multiple occasions – here and here – this fight ain’t happening.

Nevertheless, Mayweather answered: “Well it’s really not a rumor. The fight may happen. We really don’t know as of right now, but do I think the fight will happen? Absolutely.”

Pressed on whether it would be a boxing or MMA match, Mayweather said it would be the former. (Again, in all likelihood, it will be neither; if it did, though, you know you’d watch.)

For whatever it’s worth, Bovada made odds on the hypothetical match last week; Mayweather was a -2000 favorite (so you’d have to bet that much to win $100), and McGregor was a +900 (so if you bet $100 you win that much) underdog.
