Sunday’s Manchester United vs. Bournemouth match was postponed, when the stadium was evacuated after the discovery of a suspicious device in the stadium’s toilets. The match will be played on Tuesday.

The device, it turns out, was left over from a training exercise for sniffing dogs at Old Trafford that Wednesday. The “mock up of a pipe bomb” was marked as recovered, when it had not been.

"Mr Reid said he had marked the “mock up of a pipe bomb” as recovered as he had “a similar item which had not been used” in his bag. He said he was “absolutely gutted” that a lapse in protocol had “resulted in many people being disappointed, frightened and inconvenienced”. “The mistake is entirely mine, I have to take full responsibility.” He added the device left behind had a small white label with “training aid” written on it and it was not concealed."

It’s a relief there was no terrorist incident. Proper safety protocols were followed. It was an honest mistake. Though, the mistake will cost Manchester United more than $4 million.

United can still clinch a top four place, with a 19-0 win.
