Fredi Gonzalez Got a Flight Confirmation E-Mail Back to Atlanta Before He Was Told He Was Fired

Fredi Gonzalez was fired as the manager of the Atlanta Braves. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he found out while on the road, because he got a flight confirmation e-mail on Tuesday morning, booking a flight back to Atlanta, even though the team was in the middle of a series with Pittsburgh.

I suppose this is the baseball version of “come to my office for a meeting” in 2016. Gonzalez, while not confirming the specifics of how he found out, said “I don’t think there’s a perfect time to do it. I think you do it when they feel like the time is right, so they did it.”
