Philadelphia 76ers Win Lottery, Have The No. 1 Pick in The 2016 NBA Draft
The Philadelphia 76ers won the 2016 NBA Draft lottery on Tuesday night, giving them the top pick in this year’s draft. The lottery held true to form as each team wound up in the slot it was supposed to. The Los Angeles Lakers will pick second and the Boston Celtics have the third pick thanks to a trade with the Brooklyn Nets. But the 76ers were the big winners on the night.
Philadelphia will now likely have to choose between LSU’s Ben Simmons and Duke’s Brandon Ingram. Both players look like future stars and either should jump-start what has been a long and painful rebuilding process for the franchise. The 76ers “trusted the process” under the now-departed Sam Hinkie and it has paid off in a big way for newly-hired general manager Bryan Colangelo.
