Jurgen Klinsmann announced his 23-man roster for the Copa America Centenario. There were plenty of curious choices, but none moreso than putting 33-year-old Chris Wondolowski back on the team, and excluding MLS rookie Jordan Morris.

While sometimes these choices can not be “like for like” Klinsmann himself basically put it as a choice between the two when he told FOX “There are always some 50-50 moments … and it came a little bit down to Wondo or Jordan.”

Klinsmann cited Wondolowski being in “top form” so far this MLS as the reason, but the decision to go with the much older striker (who has had his share of notable disappointing moments with the USMNT) over an ascending player is frustrating for fans. So far this year, Wondolowski has 7 goals in 11 matches for San Jose. Morris isn’t exactly on poor form, though, with 4 goals in his first season in MLS with the Seattle Sounders.
