Dean & DeLuca Invitational TV Schedule, Tee Times, Odds: Spieth is the Favorite, but the Field has Won a Lot More Lately
By Michael Shamburger
The Dean & Deluca Invitational at Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas starts on Thursday and Jordan Spieth is the current favorite to win the event. Should he be though? As I noted in a post earlier this week, Spieth has started out hot at his last four tournaments, excluding the missed cut at the Players, but has faltered on the weekend. Sure he’s the number two ranked golfer in the world, but his weekend play isn’t living up to the hype. He could very easily turn it around in a heartbeat and turn that into a string of wins, but he needs to show signs of improvement now before we get to Oakmont and the U.S. Open.
Just behind Spieth is Adam Scott, who hasn’t played spectacularly as of late. Since finishing second in the Northern Trust Open and winning in back-to-back weeks at the Honda Classic and WGC-Cadillac Championship, Scott has finishes of T12, T28, T42, T17, and T12. That’s not bad, but it obviously isn’t like having a string of three straight tournament finishes in the top two. Scott currently ranks first in strokes gained tee-to-green at 2.210 and first in strokes gained total at 2.409.
Either of those two guys could put together a run this week in preparation for the U.S. Open, but they’ll have to content with a field that has won a combined 13 tournaments this season.

My Pick
Hold on while I reach into a bag and pull out a name…
Wow, Matt Kuchar. Kuchar hasn’t won a tournament in over two years, but he is coming off of back-to-back third place finishes in his last two tournaments. Kuchar has also had success at Colonial where he finished second in 2013 and averages 68.73.
