Alan Pulido, a rising young Mexican soccer player, was kidnapped in his home country on Saturday night. Pulido, who has made six appearances with the Mexican national team and scored four goals, plays for Greek powerhouse Olympiakos.

Pulido was leaving a party near his hometown of Ciudad Victoria late Saturday night and was kidnapped at gunpoint. As he drove away from the party with his girlfriend, Pulido was cut off by a vehicle and forcibly taken by six masked gunmen. His girlfriend was later released unharmed, but Pulido remains missing.

Three different federal agencies are currently on the case.

The young striker began playing for Olympiacos in 2015, scoring five goals in eight league appearances, and six in 15 total matches. He made his debut with the Mexican national team in 2014, and in his first cap notched a hat-trick in a 4-0 friendly win over South Korea. He also scored against the United States in a friendly on April 2, 2014.

Pulido has been in a dispute with his former Mexican club, Tigres, about his contract situation and whether or not he actually made a legal transfer away from the the club. The Mexican national team has left him off the squad as a result of that dispute, despite his clear talent.

There is no word on the motive for the kidnapping or if the gunmen have made any demands.
