Thunder Unravel in Third, Warriors-Cavs Set for Rematch in NBA Finals
The Warriors beat the Thunder 96-88 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals to advance to face the Cleveland Cavaliers. The difference in the game was one of Golden State’s patented onslaughts in the third quarter, outscoring OKC 29-12 in that period. Three’s were raining down for Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry, as the Thunder collectively looked like their batteries ran dry.
The Thunder made a late run at it, cutting the deficit to four with 1:50 remaining after Kevin Durant scored seven straight points, but then Stephen Curry was fouled shooting a three and that was basically all she wrote.
The (obvious) big question for OKC is whether Kevin Durant returns this offseason. It goes without saying that losing him would be devastating. If this was his last game for the Thunder, he played pretty well in it, scoring 27 points on 10-19 shooting.
Warriors-Cavs should be fun. Unlike last year, Cleveland is at full strength, but will it be enough to dethrone the defending champs?
