Marlon Byrd Suspended For Season After Second PED Positive Test
By Ty Duffy
Cleveland Indians outfielder Marlon Byrd has been suspended after a second positive PED test. The 38-year-old will miss 162 games.
Per Byrd’s Baseball Reference page, he averaged a home run every 63.6 plate appearances with a 91 OPS+ from 2002 to 2007 in his 20s. He averaged a home run ever 24.5 plate appearances with a 115 OPS+ from 2013 onward, when he turned 35.
If we can’t believe a baseball player’s mysterious late 30s power surge is legit, what can we believe in?
