The Memorial Tournament TV Schedule, Tee Times, Odds: The Big Three Face Off After Winning Last Events

The Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village in Dublin, Ohio starts on Thursday and it’s primed to be one of the best non-major events of the year. Clearly the main draw will be the top three players in the world, Jason Day, Jordan Spieth, and Rory McIlroy, but what makes it even better is that all three are coming off of wins in their last events. Day won the Players, McIlroy won the Irish Open, and Spieth won last week at the Dean and DeLuca Invitational.

Of course it would be too much to ask that the top three players be grouped together on Thursday and Friday because, most likely, it doesn’t make sense for TV viewership. If the three are grouped together early and the tournament doesn’t appear on Golf Channel until the afternoon, golf fans would miss out on a complete round of golf by the top three players. The good thing is that at least McIlroy and Spieth are grouped together, so we get that and hopefully the weekend includes two final groups featuring all three players.

Not to be forgotten, but Sergio Garcia, who won his last event, the AT&T Byron Nelson, is also in the field along with Rickie Fowler, Dustin Johnson, Matt Kuchar, Hideki Matsuyama, Phil Mickelson, Justin Rose, and Bubba Watson.

My Pick

Personally, I can’t help but be excited to watch this and at this point it’s tough to go with anyone not in the top three of the world golf rankings. To me, Rory feels like the best pick this week. It feels like his game has been solid all around and he finally pulled it together at the Irish Open. His confidence is high, not that Day’s and Spieth’s isn’t, but Spieth is coming off of a very emotional win and this feels like the best time for McIlroy to win a PGA Tour event before the U.S. Open.
