Neymar attended a New York Mets game at Citi Field on Tuesday and took some cuts in a batting cage. The result was a rather unimpressive athletic display. The Brazilian soccer star looked as if he’d never used the top half of his body before. His batting stance also put his hands in a bad starting position.
Watching one of the world’s most recognizable sports stars reduced to toddler-like skill levels is amusing but it’s hard not to feel bad for the guy. It’s quite obvious last night was the first time he’d held a baseball bat. There are surely scores of Major Leaguers who would look equally incompetent dribbling a soccer ball.
The lesson? Never try anything new.
