Costa Rica 0-0 Paraguay: Great Result For The U.S.

Costa Rica and Paraguay sweated their way to a 0-0 draw. That was the best possible outcome for the United States in Copa America Centenario Group A, after their 2-0 loss to Colombia.

The two countries missed the chance to take the full three points off each other. If the U.S. can earn four points from the next two matches, either Costa Rica or Paraguay would have to beat Colombia to pass them. Costa Rica will also be without defender Kendall Waston, who received a late red card, against the U.S. on Tuesday.

Had Costa Rica won, they could have all but secured their advancement by earning a draw against the Americans.

The prospect of the USMNT being in the tournament longer should be a salve for FOX execs, who just inflicted that putrid 90-minute spectacle on the main broadcast network audience.
