Warriors Crush Cavs By 33, Take 2-0 Lead That Looks Insurmountable
By Jason McIntyre
Anyone see this coming?
Golden State 110, Cleveland 77. The final 20-ish minutes were not worth watching.
LeBron James didn’t play in the 4th quarter, when the teams were mostly separated by about 30 points. The Cavs lost Kevin Love to a concussion, but were still within eight points early in the 3rd quarter.
But just like Game 1, the Cavs came unglued and Ty Lue was massively out coached by Steve Kerr. Nothing Lue and the Cavs have done has forced Golden State out of its comfort zone.
Lue inexplicably rode LeBron at center and Richard Jefferson at power forward and the lead ballooned from eight to 20 late in the 3rd. Lue simply made no adjustments, he just … let his guys get blown out. The Warriors were down six in the 2nd quarter and then went on a 75-34 run. That’s not a misprint.
Anyway, Draymond Green scored 28 points including five three-pointers. The Cavs played off of him and let him shoot. He made shots. When those are falling, the Warriors are impossible to beat.
So now the 73-win Warriors head to Cleveland needing two road wins to wrap up back-to-back titles.
Ty Lue? He’s going to have to realize playing Channing Frye has to be an option. Yes, he’ll get eaten alive defensively, but other than LeBron, that’s happened to every Cleveland defender in the last five quarters. If Cleveland doesn’t have Kevin Love in Game 3 … yikes. We could be looking at a sweep.
Let me ask it here, before others: LeBron, without Irving and Love, was able to win two games last year. This year, with Irving and Love, the Cavs have lost both games by double figures. Does that mean what I think it might mean?
