UCF Trying To Population Growth Its Way Into The Big 12

ESPN obtained a letter from UCF president John Hitt to Oklahoma State’s president Burns Hargis touting UCF’s credentials for potential Big 12 inclusion. The letter included some rather broad credentials.

Arguments included projected population growth, employment levels, and average income. UCF could also, get this, expand the stadium once it had Big 12 revenue on hand.

The letter should perhaps have focused on factors more relevant to athletics officials where UCF would have shined: top rated golf courses in the surrounding area, weather during prime athletics season from October to April, an athletics department run by a private corporation not subject to FOIA requests, and, of course,  prestigious football rivalries.

Not mentioned, we presume, UCF’s 2015 football season.
