The Colorado Rockies bungled a sacrifice bunt by Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Kenta Maeda on Wednesday night. Both second baseman D.J. LeMahieu and first baseman Daniel Descalso were in position to receive the throw to first base.

It didn’t work out so well as LeMahieu caught the ball away from the base and couldn’t shovel it over to Descalso in time for the out.

Again, all made possible by the bunt, a chronically disrespected element of baseball.

The Rockies would go onto get out of the inning and win, 1-0.
