Klay Thompson Accuses Timofey Mozgov of Injuring Him with a Dirty Screen

Klay Thompson was largely ineffective during Game 3 of the NBA Finals, scoring just 10 points in 31 minutes. Part of the reason for his low production was a thigh bruise suffered after running into Timofey Mosgov late in the first quarter.

The Cleveland Cavaliers center was whistled for an illegal screen on the play but that wasn’t the end of it for Thompson.

"“It seemed kind of dirty to me,” he said. “He stuck his knee out too, but, you know what, that’s basketball.” “I didn’t get it. I don’t know. I’m guarding Kyrie, running full speed downhill. I just don’t know who is trying to set a pick on me in the middle of the key,” Thompson said. “If it’s on the perimeter, I understand. But didn’t make sense to me.”"

These are interesting comments considering the fact the Warriors’ propensity to set moving screens has been well-documented. Mozgov’s pick doesn’t seem more egregiously bad than a normal one set by Draymond Green or Andrew Bogut.

Also, there’s no rule against setting a pick at the free-throw line, so bringing up where it took place on the court comes off as a hollow argument.

Let’s give Charles Barkley the last word on this one.
