There Is Zero Chance Von Miller Sits Out The 2016 Season

Von Miller and the Denver Broncos are in the middle of contentious contract negotiations, but despite claims to the contrary there is absolutely zero chance Miller will sit out the 2016 season. It’s just not going to happen.

What we’re seeing go down between Miller and the Broncos has become standard in the modern NFL. Teams negotiate with players, when things don’t go smoothly they leak the terms offered to make the player look bad, then the player responds by leaking news that he would be comfortable holding out for the entire season. This has followed that exact pattern.

Miller has reportedly been offered a six-year, $114.5 million deal with $39.8 million guaranteed in the first two years. Miller wants the team to guarantee the first three years of the contract. And that’s where the impasse is. Frankly, the two sides aren’t that far apart, but they both claim there is no deal in sight. It’s all for show.

The deadline for a long-term deal to get done is July 15 and we should all expect the two sides to agree to terms by then. This is all just theater of the absurd. Miller wants to be in Denver and the Broncos know they need him. The fact that this has been negotiated through the media is just another example of how ridiculous NFL contract negotiations have gotten.

We all know the Broncos will eventually cave and guarantee more money and we all know Miller won’t hold out into the season. All the rest is just hot air.

If you read any panicked reports about how the two sides hate each other and there’s no chance of a deal, don’t pay them any attention. Miller and the Broncos will have a deal done by the July 15 deadline.
