Gordie Howe Dies at 88 Years Old

Gordie Howe died this morning in Ohio. He was 88 years old. The death has been confirmed by CBS News.

Howe’s professional hockey career spanned from 1946 until 1980. After 25 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, he played in the WHA (which would merge with the NHL for the final year of his career) with the Houston Aeros and New England Whalers.

Howe remains the all-time leader in NHL games played with 1,767, is the second all-time leading goal scorer behind Wayne Gretzky, and ninth all-time in assists.
