Peru stunned Brazil and eliminated them from the Copa America, in the group stage. The only goal of the game came in “Hand of God” fashion, on a hand ball that was discussed by the officials for several minutes. The goal was ultimately allowed, though replay showed it to have come off Raul Ruidiaz’ arm.

Expect more talk for replay review in soccer. The officials could not use it. It would have been reversed.

Meanwhile, even though this is a Brazilian “B” team with Neymar not participating and going to the Olympics, it’s still a national embarrassment coming just two years after the 7-1 World Cup drubbing at home to Germany.  A Brazilian side went out in a group that featured Ecuador, Peru, and Haiti, and did so while getting shutout by both Ecuador and Peru.
