Chris Crawford is an amateur at the U.S. Open. Crawford just finished his senior season at Drexel and qualified last week in dramatic fashion. When he tees off on Thursday, he’ll be on at least his third string caddy because whoever was walking with him during his practice round on Tuesday fell into a bunker on the 6th hole and broke his ankle. Following proper etiquette, he held his screams of pain until Jason Day was no longer addressing the ball.
Caddy slid down grass slope & into sand right behind @JDayGolf - we heard crack. He tried 2 stay quiet to let JD hit! Obvs JD helped instead

Caddy falls behind @JDayGolf and says. "I've snapped my ankle but go ahead Jason. I'll be okay!" Medics called. Hospital bound. #Oakmont

Crawford’s caddy last week, Drexel coach Ben Held, isn’t on the bag this week because he’s playing the Philadelphia Amateur at Merion. Whoever the next man up is has his work cut out for him. Between the dangerous bunkers and the perilous rough, it’s going to be a long week.
