Jordan Spieth Angrily Tossed His Club After His Ball Spun Off the Green and Into a Bunker
By Michael Shamburger
Jordan Spieth showed a little frustration during Day 1 of the U.S. Open. Spieth, who is currently tied for 11th at even after seven holes, hit a nice shot on the par-4 17th that hit the green past the hole and spun all the way back into a green side bunker. The crowd didn’t appear to appreciate Spieth’s toss.
There have been two weather delays -the first was over an hour long – at the U.S. Open thus far, and when the second ends Spieth will have a difficult bunker shot.
Spieth and Zach Johnson also appeared to be unhappy with the USGA officials who didn’t allow players to warm up after the first delay. During the second weather delay, Fox’s Shane Bacon asked Spieth’s playing partner Bryson DeChambeau what the discussion was about, and DeChambeau answered, “That’s kind of between Jordan and USGA officials. It was just about warming up. He thought with an hour delay we should have been allowed to warm up.”
