Ben Simmons to the 76ers, Brandon Ingram to the Lakers Seems Like an NBA Draft Formality

Ben Simmons worked out for the Philadelphia 76ers today. After the workout, Simmons posted this picture to Instagram with the caption “Trust the process.” This is likely the first of what will likely be many pictures of Simmons wearing Sixers gear.

The general social media consensus is that Simmons would only agree to work out for the 76ers if they agreed to take him with the #1 pick. It seems that the consensus #1 pick felt he didn’t need to work out for teams. So any concerns that Simmons was going to force his way to the Lakers were… unnecessary. Especially since the Lakers never wanted anything to do with Simmons. They always wanted the guy who was almost certainly going to fall to them anyway.

From a mock draft posted on The Vertical last week:

"Ingram is the player the Lakers would have targeted at No. 1 had they won the lottery, sources told The Vertical."

That’s a good story and I’m sure the Lakers will stick to it. Make Ingram feel wanted. Let him know he’s no bridesmaid. Ben Simmons? Never heard of him. Even if he was talking about going to the Lakers last year.
