Matt Stafford's Wife Will Choose the Lions Cheerleaders

Matt Stafford’s wife, Kelly, was a cheerleader at Georgia, and while collegiate cheerleading is a markedly different endeavor than whatever it is NFL cheerleaders do, there is enough overlap the Lions felt Kelly Stafford was qualified to help select this year’s squad.

There is a greater significance to this, if you can believe that. Until this year, the Lions were one of six NFL teams not to have a cheerleading squad, though Lions president Ron Wood told the Detroit Free-Press it was “strong fan sentiment” that caused the team to break down and add one.
