Everything worked out perfectly for the Minnesota Timberwolves, who were able to get the #1 player on their board, Kris Dunn with the 5th overall pick in the draft. The 76ers wanted Dunn badly. He’s a pure point guard who is terrific defensively and ready to play now.

Minnesota’s Ricky Rubio is a good defender; Dunn could be a better. And he’s better offensively. With a nucleus of Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins, the Timberwolves are seriously positioned to make a run at the playoffs next season.

Of course, there’s a chance that the Timberwolves could still trade him.

Dunn, the two-time Big East Player of the Year, averaged 15.6 ppg, 7.5 apg, 5.5 rpg as a junior, and then 16.4 ppg, 6.2 apg and 5.3 rpg as a senior. He shot 37 percent on 3-pointers.
