Ben Simmons' Cousin Killed In Hit-And-Run Accident
Ben Simmons just had the biggest night of his life on Thursday, but now he and his family are dealing with an unimaginable tragedy. Hoboken, New Jersey police are investigating a hit-and-run accident in which Simmons’ cousin, Zachary, was killed.
Zachary Simmons was with his cousin Thursday night as Ben was selected by the Philadelphia 76ers with the first pick in the 2016 NBA Draft. Less than 48 hours later the 21-year-old was struck by a black SUV that was reportedly going 70 miles per hour at impact. The impact was so violent that witnesses reported hearing two thuds.
Zachary Simmons was out for a friend’s birthday Friday night and the accident happened at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday. Simmons was just 21 years old.
Police are currently looking for a black Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Yukon or Chevy Tahoe that may have New York license plates.
