Tiger Woods Reiterates to Jim Nantz that He's Taking His Time to Recover
By Michael Shamburger
Tiger Woods spoke with Jim Nantz and Nick Faldo on CBS on Sunday during the final round of the Quicken Loans National and pretty much told them the same thing he told us all before the tournament began; that he is taking his time with his recovery.
When Nantz asked Woods, “Are you close?” Woods threw in a joke about his son Charlie who finished tied for second at a U.S. Kids junior event, “Close to what, beating Charlie? Yeah, I’m close to beating Charlie.”
Woods went on to discuss his back operations, working through getting stronger while trying to get back on the course and play but not rush back like he’s done in the past.
"“I don’t know. I want to play. I’ll put it that way, but I don’t know if I will,” said Woods. “But I do want to and I’m trying. I’m trying. Each day I’m doing my workouts, sometimes they’re two or three times a day. I’m working my tail off. I’ve trimmed down. I’m still the same weight, but I’ve lost body fat. I’ve gained more lean muscle and I’m faster than I used to be, so all that’s positive, but I still need to get now into golf shape. Which that’s hitting ball after ball after ball and getting my golf pulses back.”"
Get used to hearing this, because every time Tiger is asked about a return, this will likely be the response for the rest of 2016.
