Angry Thunder Fans Burned Their Kevin Durant Jerseys

Kevin Durant’s letter in the Players’ Tribune announcing his decision to join the Golden State Warriors was more about the past than the future. He was giving in his praise and grateful for his time in the small-market city. The argument could be made that the franchise has no one to blame but itself for mismanaging superstars and eventually losing them.

James Harden and Durant have already fled to greener pastures. Russell Westbrook will do the same in a year. Nothing gold can stay.

Thunder fans are understandably not in a position to hear reason right now. They way they are dealing with their emotions is by burning their own property.

More specifically: Durant jerseys.

And all together now.

Then there’s this.

" You leave us…We leave you! #ThunderIndependenceDay @KDTrey5 @BleacherReport @incarceratedbob @FakeSportsCentr pic.twitter.com/AJdkBY0HQf — Westin Wood (@WestinWood) July 4, 2016 "

Sports elicit irrational reactions so it’s not surprising this is the avenue for frustration. At the same time, c’mon guys.

Whatever Oklahoma City basketball is, it’s that way because of Durant. When you burn his jersey in rage, you’re effectively burning all of your good memories associated with his greatness at the same time.

It is no way to go through life.
