Jung Ho Kang of the Pittsburgh Pirates is under investigation by Chicago police for an alleged sexual assault, according to the Chicago Tribune. The incident is alleged to have happened on June 17th, when Pittsburgh was in town to play the Chicago Cubs.

A woman who met Kang through a dating app called Bumble went to his hotel room, and alleged that about 15 minutes after she had a drink with him, she blacked out.

"The woman told investigators she arrived at Kang’s room at the Westin Hotel around 10 p.m. and he served her an alcoholic drink, police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said. She said she blacked out about 15 to 20 minutes later, then drifted in and out of consciousness as he sexually assaulted her. She told police she did not fully awaken until she was in a taxi and on her way home, according to Guglielmi."

She went to a hospital a day later for an examination, and went to the police 10 days later. The investigation is ongoing. The Pittsburgh Pirates acknowledged being aware of the investigation, and MLB released the following statement:

"“Our understanding is that police in Chicago are investigating this very serious matter. Major League Baseball will monitor the progress of this investigation closely and will respond fully as additional facts emerge.”"
