Ray Allen hasn’t played in the NBA since the 2014 NBA Finals. He was a coveted free agent for the entirety of the 2014-2015 season, but never chose a team despite serious interest from both NBA Finals participants, the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

While the defending champion Warriors chased perfection in ’15-’16, there’s a possibility they would have turned down Allen, but he probably could have had Ian Clarke’s spot on the roster. The Cavaliers on the other hand would have gladly given Allen a contact and used him in real, meaningful minutes during their run to the title.

Allen, who turns 41 in two weeks, opened an organic fast-food restaurant in Miami earlier this year. Now, according to Chris Broussard’s Sources, Allen is considering a comeback. Allen’s representatives have reportedly “reached out” to the Golden State Warriors. He would also be open to the possibility of playing for the Cavaliers, Spurs and Clippers.

If he’s just chasing a ring – and turning down four NBA Finals teams and two champions in two season seems to imply that he’s not – then he should go to Golden State. Then Cleveland if he values winning and being friends with LeBron James. Then come the Clippers and Spurs. If he picks either of those teams you have to assume the Warriors and Cavs both turned down the non-negotiable offer to replace a current stadium vendor with organic fast food. If those teams all say no, Milwaukee would be a natural fit and the most fitting place to end his career.
