Andre Iguodala Takes a Shot at the Cavs: OKC Was the Best Team in the Playoffs
By Jason McIntyre
Andre Iguodala went on the radio in New York Thursday and made a statement that’ll probably get some pickup and trigger a discussion: The Oklahoma City Thunder were the best team in the 2016 NBA playoffs.
Given that the Thunder led the Warriors 3-1 in the WCF, this isn’t terribly surprising. It took a historic shooting performance from Klay Thompson in Game 6 on the road to propel the Warriors to victory – there was plenty of choking by the Thunder down the stretch in that game, too – and Golden State prevailed in Game 7.
The Cavs never looked dominant against the Warriors. After trailing 3-1, they benefitted from Draymond Green’s suspension, and then LeBron was unstoppable in Game 6. The final game came down to Golden State missing its final nine shots over the last 4:39, and Kyrie Irving making one.
So you can’t really quibble with Iguodala’s statement.
Where it really hurts is when the Thunder look at what might have been … why couldn’t we keep Kevin Durant?
