Darren Clarke, the European Ryder Cup captain, was putting on the 14th hole during the second round of the Open Championship when his gum fell out of his mouth. After making the putt, Clarke reached down, checked the gum for dirt and grass and resumed chewing.

Nick Faldo did not agree with Clarke’s decision to use the five second rule.
