It Sounds Like Brock Lesnar Is Still Slated to Perform at WWE SummerSlam

Brock Lesnar has vowed “to get to the bottom” of the failed drug test under the purview of the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency, which the UFC announced on Friday.

In the meantime, there were and are questions about how both UFC and WWE would handle the situation if Lesnar goes through his due process and the results remain the same.

WWE provided the following statement to Fox:

"“Brock Lesnar has not performed for WWE since WrestleMania,” which was held in April, “and is not scheduled to return until Sunday, August 21,” WWE officials said in a statement released to FOX Sports."

Lesnar’s failed test was drawn on June 28th; Roman Reigns was recently suspended for 30 days for violating WWE’s wellness policy. SummerSlam, which is not until August 21st, is outside the similar 30-day range. (WWE can also point to Reigns when anyone asks why UFC’s more stringent testing program could snare Lesnar, who has never failed a WWE test that we know of.)

WWE’s statement is a little vague – presumably, without present circumstances, Lesnar would have been around at least a little bit to build his scheduled match with Randy Orton.

It will be worth checking in on WWE’s position once there is more finality to the USADA’s process with Lesnar.
