Tyrek Coger, a junior college transfer who was preparing to play basketball for Oklahoma State next season, collapsed and died today, as first reported by the Stillwater News Press. Coger was doing a workout at the T. Boone Pickens Stadium when he collapsed from heat exhaustion at around 5:30 p.m.

New head coach Brad Underwood provided this statement:

“Tyrek was excited to be at Oklahoma State and had such passion for the game and was looking forward to being an OSU Cowboy. Losing a member of the team is like losing a member of the family. But we know our loss pales in comparison to the pain his family is going through.”
