Here's Proof Ken Griffey Jr.'s Hat is Facing Forward on His Hall of Fame Plaque

Ken Griffey Jr. and Mike Piazza will be inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame this weekend. This sentence should make you feel older than you’ve ever felt in your life.

Time flies when you’re watching other people have fun.

While Piazza is worthy of joining baseball’s most exclusive club, all eyes will be on Griffey in Cooperstown. He’ll go down as one of the best all-around outfielders to ever play the game, a player who dwarfed the popularity of his peers.

Soon no one will care that he was not a unanimous selection (for now, though, this outrage stands).

Part of the reason why he was such a compelling figure was his fun-loving attitude. Nothing showcased that more than his omnipresent backward hat.

Although Griffey almost immediately shut down speculation that his Hall of Fame plaque would feature such a look, some have held out hope it could happen.

Above is proof that any such hope has been extinguished.

The still comes from a video documenting the making of Piazza’s and Griffey’s plaques, narrated by JK Simmons. Sorry to be a buzzkill.

Full Hall of Fame coverage begins at noon EST on MLB Network.
