Joe Maddon Made a Pun Out of the Latest White Sox Incident

As we discussed over the weekend, the latest bizarre incident in this White Sox season involved their ace pitcher Chris Sale tearing up his apparently uncomfortable throwback jersey, getting scratched from his start and sent home, and being suspended for five days for insubordination.

With the White Sox slated to host the cross-town Cubs this week, Joe Maddon got asked about the incident, and trade rumor season in general.

“You don’t even know what those conversations sound like and how that cuts at the fabric of what you’re attempting to do,” Maddon said, via CSN Chicago. “No pun intended.”

Given Maddon’s personality, the pun was almost certainly intended, and he added that the Sale spat was “entertaining from a distance,” and compared it to a dentist appointment.

Whatever the case may be, the relationship between Sale and the White Sox will presumably continue to be entertaining from a distance for as long as they’re still together. From a content perspective, hopefully nobody wows the Southsiders with an offer.
