Jimmer Fredette Finally Heads to China

Jimmer Fredette is headed to China. After years in Sacramento and New Orleans. A couple months in Chicago. A week in New York. A preseason in San Antonio. A summer in Denver. A winter in Westchester. Jimmer is signing with the Shanghai Sharks of the Chinese Basketball Association.

It is bittersweet news. Sad because you’ll never convince me that Jimmer didn’t get a fair shake in the NBA.

Sacramento: Uneven playing time on a dysfunctional shoot-first guard-heavy team. At no point before, during, or after his time there was the team going anywhere. When he scored a career-high, he was then banished to the bench and bought out.

Chicago: Sat on the bench to watch the worst offense in the NBA. Can’t argue with the results though – the Bulls lost in the first round of the playoffs.

New Orleans: Went 0-6 in his season debut and was then buried on the bench while Austin Rivers played 20 minutes a game.

San Antonio: Understandable.

New York: Jose Calderon and Sasha Vujacic.

Whatever. Now Jimmer gets to shoot 30 times a game in China and not have to fight Travis Trice for the ball. It should be fun. The 5-minute YouTube clips should be a blast to watch. It should be like Michael Beasley, but with longer 3’s.

I guess it’s more a relief than anything else. No more looking at box scores to see DNP-CD. He’s not there anymore.
