From the moment the first 360 dunk was completed, man has dreamed of the 720. As far-fetched as a 720-degree spinning dunk may seem, there once was a time that the four-minute mile was considered impossible. Just 100 years ago, the 100-meter dash record was 10.6 seconds, a full second slower than it is today. And there was once a time you could win an NBA dunk contest by lifting off from the free-throw line.

Well, friends, the 720 is nearly upon us, and Andrew Wiggins is delivering it.

If it isn’t clear from that video, Wiggins missed that dunk. It bounced off the iron and out. But he’s right there. He has the elevation, he’s spinning fast enough and I’m betting if he hasn’t already finished a 720, he’s going to finish one any day now.

The 2017 NBA dunk contest is already over.
