The crime stories from the Rio Olympics are streaming out with impossible volume and velocity, but see if you can top this one by Yahoo!:

Earlier this week at a cafe in Rio de Janiero, somebody stole $40,000 worth of gear from a News Corp. photographer named Brett Costello. That gear included Costello’s Olympics-issued photo vest, which bears a unique number for each photographer.

Lo and behold, Costello is checking into the archery venue on Saturday, when he notices the vest number on the man checking in behind him rings a bell.

Sure enough, it was his.

"On Friday afternoon, he confronted the man wearing his stolen vest with the help of Rio Olympic personnel and local police. When faced with the fact that the man had entered the venue’s media area without a credential – an enormous security breach, by the way – he removed the vest and gave it to a Rio 2016 venue manager."

The imposter tried to escape but was detained by police.
