If Prince Fielder's Career is Ending, He Will Have Same Number of Career Home Runs as His Father

Prince FielderThe Texas Rangers are expected to have a press conference regarding Prince Fielder tomorrow. According to Ken Rosenthal, Fielder’s career appears to be over, after he had neck surgery a little over a week ago, ending his dismal 2015 season.

Fielder joins Mark Texeira and Alex Rodriguez as prominent former All-Stars who are ending their careers.

In a crazy bit of trivia, Prince Fielder will finish with 319 career home runs, the same amount as Cecil Fielder. While it’s not unexpected that Fielder didn’t age gracefully into his late 30’s, it is shocking and sad just how quickly his baseball career ended. Fielder had only 34 home runs with the Texas Rangers over the last three seasons, after being traded for Ian Kinsler.
